Refugee Week 2020

This online concert was held on 18th June 2020 by our friends at Best Foot Music. It was a fundraiser for the musicians involved, including Bashir Al Gamar who is raising funds for his village back home.

Musicians from Planet Gnawa and the Refugee Radio Orchestra played at the Glastonbury Festival 2011 courtesy of our friends at the international radio and music charity Fairtunes.

Moroccan desert blues from Planet Gnawa. With support from Senegalese fusion kings Bakk Lamp Fall. Also starring the Refugee Radio Orchestra, Brighton’s own refugee and asylum seeker supergroup.October 2010

Planet Gnawa and Iranian-reggae fusion from the Refugee Radio Orchestra at the seafront Bandstand. This was a joint event with Climate Connections. Planet Gnawa were formed specially for this event. August 2010.

Live music from Bakk Lamp Fall, a mixture of Senegalese artists and local musicians from Brighton playing groovy African beats. Support was from The Cornerstones with their unique Burundian interpretation of acoustic reggae. June 2010

Previous Events: DRConnect

This was a fundraiser for Goma University in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in association with Hear Afrika, Climate Connections, CDEC and AASULE. Live music from Poetic Pilgrimage, Baba Slips, Mohammed Yahya and Spliff Richard. February 2010.
